Legal Requirements

You can marry in Cyprus very easily. It is fully legal and recognised throughout the world. Your marriage certificate will be issued in English.

In accordance with Cyprus law you must meet all the legal requirements. You must be resident in Cyprus for at least 3 working days, not including weekends, public hoidays or the day of your arrival.

You need a valid 10 year passport that is not due to expire within 6 months. Photocopies will be required of your passport details and the originals will need to be seen. We will go through this with you so dont worry.

Your 2 witnesses will need copies of the details of their passports and the originals will need to be seen.

You must each have a single status declaration which confirms that you are single and free to marry. This needs to be signed and stamped by a Notery (someone from your firm of solicitors should be able to do this for you) and be valid for 6 months. If in any doubt contact your Embassy who will give you all the information you require.

Full birth certifacate each, and copies, short versions will not be accepted.

Adoption certificate if either the bride or groom are adopted, and copies.

Proof of name change by deed poll. This needs to be signed and stamped by your solicitor, and copies.

Your decree absolute if you are a divorcee, and copies. If Catholic, a copy of the marriage anullment is required, and copies.

If widdowed, you will need the death certifcate of your late spouse and your previous marriage certificate and copies of both.

A letter of consent from a parent or guardian if you are under the age of 18 and copies.

If you want an Anglican ceremony at least one of you must have a baptism certificate. For a Catholic ceremony both are required to have baptism certificates. Don't forget the copies. 

Your personal coordinator will take you to organise your special licence and/or your form B licence. These are the permits issued by the Ministry of the Interior of Cyprus that will allow you to marry here on the Island.

We will require copies of ALL the relevent documents and certificates 6 weeks prior to your wedding day.

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO BRING ALL THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS AND CERTIFICATES WITH YOU. PHOTOCOPIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AND THIS COULD RESULT IN YOUR WEDDING BEING CANCELLED.
