We all wind down to relax in our own different ways. Some of us just want to chill on the beach or around the pool, others prefer to get up to go somewhere or do something. Whatever your preferrance there is something for everyone here in Cyprus. We have Scuba diving with fully trained dive masters who will take you to explore the wonders of the under water world. We have wrecks in shallow and deeper waters. The Zenobia is the fourth largest wreck in the world. The roll on, roll off ferry sank in 1980 just one mile off the shore in Larnaca harbour. Then there is Achilleas, in 1975, it exploded and sank in mysterious circumstances coming to rest at a depth of 11 metres. The wreck lies upside down and has become home to a vast array of marine life. You may also take various courses in scuba diving yourself and return home with a valid qualification. There are many ancient sites to visit, as a matter of fact, archeaology continues here still as ruins are discovered continuously. The best Roman Mosaics in Paphos are located in the Harbour area. These are some of the finest ever to be discovered in the world. Three Roman villas have been uncovered, they were accidentally discovered by a farmer ploughing his field. First is the House of Dionysus. the second is the house of Aion where there is a mosaic of the birth if Dionysus and the third villa is the House of Theseus, an amazing, huge complex where the mosaics are fabulous. If you wish to sightsee it is probably best to take a coach tour to save getting lost and fitting more in, many trips include your lunch in the price. We have tours to Troodos and the Kykkos Monastery where you will travel through traditional, idyllic mountain villages and pine forests, visit Platres and pass through the Troodos square, en route to Mount Olympus the highest point in Cyprus, reaching a staggering 1951 metres above sea level. The Kykkos Monastery, the wealthiest and most famous monastery on the island, is the highlight of this tour. Inside, the sheer beauty will take you breath away. Ladies are required to keep their shoulders and knees covered. You may also take the opportunity to visit the tomb of Archbishop Makarios. You will also get the opportunity to visit the recently restored 19th century quarter of the city, known as Laiki Yitinia where it is possible to walk the green line which divides the city in half. The last port of call is the beautiful mountain village of Lefkara, known for its handmade lace and silver. If you take the tour to Limassol you will enter the region of legends and history, starting with a visit to the rock of Aphrodite, where it is believed the goddess of love and beauty was born and rose out of the waves.
